Katharine (Kate) Drummond, MD, FRACS
Dr Kate Drummond obtained her medical degree at Sydney University, graduating in 1988. She received her FRACS in neurosurgery in 1997. She then commenced both active clinical practice and research, and furthered her training with both clinical and research fellowships in Neuro-oncology at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard University in Boston.
Dr Drummond is a neurosurgeon at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and a Senior Lecturer at The University of Melbourne. Her clinical interest is primarily Neuro-Oncology, and she is Chair of the Neuro-Oncology Committee of VCOG, Cancer Council of Victoria and Head of the Central Nervous System Tumour Stream of the Melbourne Comprehensive Cancer Centre. She is involved in a number of brain tumour clinical trials, including as PI, as well as clinical and basic research projects and has obtained research grants from both Australian and US granting bodies. She sits on a number of committees, including the national multidisciplinary group developing evidence-based guidelines for the management of primary brain tumours.
