Children and Young People with ABI
BrainLink is committed to developing and providing a range of support and education services to parents, carers and families who are raising a child or young person with an Acquired Brain Injury.
Children and young people with an Acquired Brain Injury face a double challenge, because ABI complicates the normal developmental process. It interrupts the young person's life and can affect his or her abilities in many ways that make growing up harder.
Information and Support Program For Families
BrainLink's Information and Support Courses are a wonderful way to connect with other families caring for a loved one and it is open to all mums, dads, grandparents, family members and (unpaid) carers who are involved in raising a child with an Acquired Brain Injury.
Courses cover:
- The issues of ABI and the impact on the family
- Grief and Loss, hope for the future
- Self-advocacy and information about services available in the local community
There is also the opportunity to ask the program co-ordinator about issues such as schooling, accessing appropriate support, developing relationships, and integration into the community.
See News and Events for upcoming course dates and register your
interest to the Program Co-ordinator.
