Who We Are
Karen has worked in the community services field for over 30 years. She started working at the Allambie Reception Centre in Burwood and then moved into the disability field with children and young people for approximately 12 years.
Karen has worked with young adults with a mental illness and other issues such as drug and alcohol or acquired brain injury. During these years Karen obtained a double degree in Psychology and Communication Studies.
Karen has worked with refugees and asylum seekers in a counselling and advocacy role which led her to open her own private counselling practice, working with people who experienced trauma and critical incidents. Karen has done Critical Incident Debriefing for both local government and community organisations.
Karen changed direction and started working in the aged care area which led her to work with carers who cared for a loved one with a disability, including mental illness, acquired brain injury and neurological disorders.
