Who We Are
Sharon Strugnell, CEO of BrainLink, has a passion for living life to its fullest, regardless of the situation. She sees first hand how well people affected with brain disorders live their life to the maximum and they do this with the loving support of family and friends and the team that surrounds her at the BrainLink. Touched herself by a close family member with a brain disorder, Sharon can relate first hand to the numerous families whom BrainLink works hard to support.
Sharon met and married her English husband and lived and worked in the Sultanate of Brunei for 15 years, spending significant time working in the disability area with young people. She worked closely with the Australian High Commission at the time fundraising for many charity events whilst running a small business and raising a young family. She returned to Australia in 1990, spending much time working with disadvantaged young people while continuing to study at the University of Melbourne.
Sharon has a strong education, training and employment background, with broad experience in community development, program development and various executive leadership roles in the not for profit sector. She has held board positions specifically in the education and employment sectors and currently is on the executive of VCASP (Victorian Coalition of Acquired brain injury Service Providers).
With extensive experience in fundraising, along with successfully gaining government support and funding as well as corporate sponsorship, Sharon understands very well the conundrum of reliability on government and external partnerships to sustain a not for profit organisation.
Her keenness to cultivate strategic partnerships and demonstrated success in building mutually beneficial alliances has provided many new opportunities for BrainLink.
She is currently with great enthusiasm continuing the varied work of BrainLink and will be looking forward to strengthening existing relationships and making health and well-being in the community a priority for all.
