A message from our CEO

November 24, 2025

As the calendar year comes to a close, it naturally becomes a time for reflection. We often take stock of what we have achieved over the year, as well as consider missed opportunities.

In my younger years, I tended to weigh my accomplishments against my setbacks to determine whether the year had been “good” or “bad”. However, as I grow older, I realise that labelling a year as merely "good" or "bad" is simplistic. Each year presents its own challenges—some years may have more than others—but it is how we adapt to these challenges that fosters our growth and learning.

This year, with our wonderful CEO out on leave for several months, I have discovered personal growth in unexpected ways. I am pleased to share that she is now on the mend, and we look forward to welcoming her back in the New Year. Sharon appreciates all the well-wishes she has received from her BrainLink family.

BrainLink has expanded this year with the addition of a part-time NDIS support coordinator, Erin, and a full-time NDIS Team Leader, Georgina. Both have become valued members of our NDIS Support Coordination team as we increase the number of NDIS participants we support.

Sadly, our support for carers team has said goodbye to Thomas, who has moved on to another role closer to home, but we are excited to welcome Jayde to the team. Jayde will be working part-time on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Our support for carers’ team has had a busy year, continuing to provide support to nearly 500 carers. Beau is diligently preparing for our carers' Christmas Party, which is always a wonderful event at BrainLink.

This year, we have been inspired by the stories of some of the people we support. We heard from Di, who found her voice again through her love of Suzi Quatro. Fiona shared her journey of adapting to significant changes in her life. Marcus recently opened up about his diagnosis with a brain tumour and how he has turned this experience into a way to make a positive impact. These stories motivate us daily to continue our work, and we hope they also encourage you on the tough days. BrainLink believes that every person's story is worth sharing, as you never know how it might inspire someone else. If you would like to share your own story, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to your support coordinator or the support for carers team so we can arrange to share your story.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the incredible staff at BrainLink who contribute to making the organisation what it is. Our staff go above and beyond to ensure that everyone we support is well cared for. They do this out of genuine care and passion for their work, and for that, I am very grateful.

Wishing everyone a very special Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope everyone gets to enjoy some time with those they love over the festive season.

Please note that the BrainLink office will close at 5 PM on Monday, December 22nd, 2025, and will reopen at 9 AM on Monday, January 5th, 2026.
