Tell us about your role and how you will be supporting people living with brain injury.

I am the new Support for Carers Program Officer, and I will be assisting the team to keep in touch with carers who look after those with a brain injury and help plan events and programs to help support and nurture those carers across Victoria.

What is it about BrainLink that inspired you to join the organisation?

I have a history working in the not-for-profit sector at the Make a Wish Foundation for several years and it’s important to me to make a difference in other people’s lives so this was the perfect opportunity to continue this passion of mine. I saw how real and personable the organization was from the get-go, and I felt this would be the perfect place for me.

Tell us about your family and their role in supporting you to do what you do best.

I have two beautiful boys, aged 7 and 4, and they are my whole world. My parents and extended family are incredibly supportive and often help me out with the practical side of things so that I can adjust to a new routine and a new job that I am passionate about.

What are the significant personal qualities that you bring to the organisation?

I am very much a people person. I love having meaningful conversations with others and making people smile or helping them feel heard and understood.

How do you practice self-care to look after yourself when things get challenging?

Journalling, talking to a friend, being out in nature or singing out my feelings helps me process through a tough situation.

Tell us a fun fact that your colleagues may not know about you.

I run a small business as a children’s face painter and I am also a wedding/events singer!

Do you have a favorite quote or saying?

You don’t know what you don’t know.

How do you hope to make a difference at BrainLink?

I want to make a positive impact on people’s lives. Big or small, it all makes a difference. I especially want to bring a little extra joy to those around me.

Meet Georgina. Our NDIS Support Coordination Team Leader.

Georgina brings vast experience working with people living with disability and leading teams in her field of expertise. She has galvanised the NDIS Support Coordination team to continue the highly professional work they do supporting people living with an acquired brain injury.

Tell us about your role and how you will be supporting people living with brain injury.

My name is Georgina Poulis and I have been employed as the NDIS Support Coordination Team Leader at BrainLink.

As part of this role, I am responsible for overseeing the delivery of Support Coordination services for BrainLink’s NDIS participants and extending support to the team in their day to day operations. My role also includes ensuring compliance against the NDIS Practice Standards and meeting financial targets.  Overall, by providing support to the team, it is hoped this will lead to even better outcomes for the individuals we support.

What is it about BrainLink that inspired you to join the organisation?

BrainLink provided me with an opportunity to continue providing support to people with disabilities, within an established vision, mission and culture that aligns with my own personal values…essentially to support people with brain injuries, their families and carers live fulfilling lives.

Tell us about your family and their role in supporting you to do what you do best.

I have a 21 year old daughter who I love and cherish.  My daughter’s empathy and caring nature has enabled me to continue my life long dedication and commitment in supporting individuals with disabilities.

What are the significant personal qualities that you bring to the organisation?

I have been described by many as passionate, caring and supportive, with a strong work ethic.  I hope that these qualities add value in the delivery of quality services to BrainLink participants.

How do you practice self-care to look after yourself when things get challenging?

There are so many individual stories…people facing adversity and many challenges, which can be at times, be very emotionally taxing. To moderate such feelings, I often listen to music, go for long walks in nature and seek opportunities to spend time with friends.

Tell us a fun fact that your colleagues may not know about you.

At the age of 40, I rode my first rollercoaster, which set off an addiction for the next 10 years.

Do you have a favorite quote or saying?

One of the quotes that rings meaningful to me is one by Nelson Mandela….

“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall”.
