What's Changing

Starting 19 May 2025, new and reassessed NDIS plans will feature more frequent funding periods—typically quarterly (3-month intervals) instead of the full year upfront.

Why the Change

These adjustments aim to help participants manage their supports more evenly across the plan, reduce the risk of overspending early, and provide flexibility—especially important for individuals with changing support needs.

How it Works

• Total funding remains unchanged.
• Funds to typically be released quarterly, although some supports may receive monthly or tailored funding periods. 
• Unspent funds within a period will carry over into the next period but cannot be transferred into a new plan. 

Participants Impacted

Participants aren’t directly affected until their plan is new or reassessed, and a payout schedule is agreed in the planning meeting.
