For many of our NDIS participants, it has been a difficult and fearful time, as every time they turn on the news, they hear about cuts to the NDIS. Many of our participants have rightly reached out to their Support Coordinators for support; however, we are hearing the news at the same time as you are and trying to figure out exactly what this will mean on the ground. Although we anticipate some reduction in funding for certain areas, such as community support and assistance for those who may need help accessing the community. We don’t know by how much that will reduce in individual plans. For some, there might be little to no change. If you are greatly impacted by a reduction in hours, know that BrainLink will do what we can to support you.
While we understand how unsettling this is for all of our participants and the people who support them, our message to you is that we are here. We hear you. We stand with you. We will continue to do our best to support you.
Some things within the NDIS are not working well. Not all the changes proposed are negative, and let's hope that along with some of the changes that will occur, it will bring with it some much-needed benefits.
We are working hard to continue connecting with our community and providing our participants with opportunities to feel heard and understood.
I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in our recent NDIS audit, along with their families. It was a great opportunity for the auditor to talk with seven of our amazing participants and their relatives, who were randomly chosen for interviews.
The audit looked closely at our documents and how we keep track of important information about our participants. The auditor made sure that we got the right permissions from everyone, kept you informed about your rights and responsibilities, and assessed any potential risks properly. They also checked our staff records to ensure that we are properly registered and that all our team members have received the necessary training.
Thank you for all of your support.
Best Wishes,
Bronwyn Harding
