Amidst this, she has endured significant personal trauma, escaping an abusive marriage to a man with mental health issues, only to be drawn back into the role of his carer. Despite these trials, Ann persevered, trapped by fear, shame, and a sense of helplessness.
Isolation took its toll, leaving Ann emotionally drained and withdrawn. Burnout and anxiety caused her to avoid social connections and activities, as she lacked the energy and belief that change was possible.
Everything began to transform when BrainLink reached out to her. With gentle encouragement, Anne gradually built a rapport with the team and decided to attend a wellbeing day. This experience brought her a much-needed moment of calm and reflection, inspiring her to prioritise her own wellbeing.
BrainLink has continued to support Anne, enabling her to attend a carer retreat where she learned about behaviour support and began sharing her story. There, she connected with another carer who had also experienced domestic violence, a pivotal moment that helped her realise she was not alone.
Now, Anne actively embraces her wellbeing, applying the tools she has gained through BrainLink to effect meaningful change in her life. Empowered and more equipped to handle her caring role, she proudly acknowledges her progress and the positive shift in her mindset. Recently, she expressed her gratitude to BrainLink.

The support they provide exceeds expectations, and I want to thank you for the outings and assistance. The little events (and sometimes big ones) make such a huge difference, especially when we find ourselves amid chaos and exhaustion while caring for our loved ones. You ensure that we get some special time out and fun to relieve the pressure. Thank you to everyone behind the scenes as well. Without your combined efforts, BrainLink wouldn’t be what it is—totally amazing!”
